Beekeepers Madis and Andres are operating under the company Lahemaa Mesi OÜ.
Our main activities are the production of honey and cultivation of Carniolan honey bees, that are adapted for
Estonian climate. Bees are mainly located in Lääne-Viru County in northern Estonia. One bee group is
composed of 10-12 bee families (colonies).
Madis studied beekeeping at the Olustvere School of Service and Rural Economics. In addition, Madis
has acquired the fourth and fifth professional standard of the beekeeper.
Our apiary is developed based on our experience and we are continuously open to innovation and
working towards achieving better results.
The main bee pastures of Lahemaa bees are located in the Natura 2000 protection area and in the
territory of Lahemaa National Park, extending to the borders of Haljala, Loksa and Kadrina parishes. Bee
pasture area is characterized by beautiful forests, bogs and heather moorlands. The main florae in the
area are various flowering plants and heather.
Lahemaa Mesi OÜ's key plans for the future are expanding the apiary, upgrading/improving the
equipment and increasing honey production.
